American Premier League or APL may not be a fresh concept but it surely is a daunting one. Already, it’s drawing quite some media attention. To tap the interest of strong south-Asian contingent and bring the game closer to the American masses, American Sports and Entertainment Group Inc has thought of this great marketing idea.

Already, many players from the Rebel League, ICL, have joined the ranks. We have as many as seven Pakistani players and quite a few new Zealanders and South Africans in the fray.

First to sign a lucrative contract with APL is ex-kiwi batsman Nathan Astle. Astle had been quite a sensation in his playing days. Despite the dubious performances of New Zealand in mid-nineties, he along with Fleming constantly gave hope to the country.

Sir Richard Hadlee, a country mate, has already given the nod for being the Executive Consultant of the league. On the heels of this news came the information of APL’s first recruitment- Nathan Astle. Since Astle, seven more have joined the league. All 8 players will be playing for Premium World. Other teams in fray would be Premium Pakistan, Premium Indians, Premium West Indies and Premium America.

More Kiwis are expected to join the APL. Also, champion performers like Lance Klusener and Nicke Boje are being confirmed for APL. These players have contract with ICL (The Rebel League) but ICL has clarified that it does not mind the players playing for any league till there is collision of dates. Anyway, ICL has scrapped its plans on ground of unavailability of monetary resources.
